How do I book?
You can book your place on a course from the individual course pages. For courses over £150 you can reserve your place with a deposit, with the balance due a minimum of 2 weeks before the course to keep your place.
What do I need to do to become a swimming teacher?
You just need to attend an STA Award in Swimming Teaching course and become a member of STA. You will need to be 16 years old at the point of assessment.
What do I need to do to become a baby and pre-school swimming teacher?
You just need to attend an STA Award in Aquatic Teaching in Baby and Pre school teaching course and become a member of STA. You will need to be 18 years old at the point of assessment and hold a current safeguarding certificate
How many learners can I teach from the poolside if I hold the STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming Qualification?
How many Adult and Child Pairs can I Teach when holding an STA Level 2 in Aquatic Teaching – Baby and Pre-school qualification?
An STA Award in Baby and Pre-school, STA recommends a maximum ratio of 12 adults and child pairs to one baby and pre-school teacher. There must also be a risk assessment in place with personal recommendations.
Do I need a to be a qualified lifesaver too?
If the teacher does not hold a lifesaving Qualification then there must be a lifesaver present on the side at all times. When teaching in the water, there must be at least one person on the poolside who is competent to respond.
