The Programme
The Rookie Lifeguard Awards are for your children if they are budding lifeguards.
Developed by the Royal Life Saving Society UK in partnership with Swim England, the Rookie Lifeguard Awards offer parents the comfort of knowing their children are aware of how to avoid dangers and enjoy the water safely.
The Bronze, Silver and Gold stage awards ensure children have a solid safety education, and have learned rescue and resuscitation techniques.
Children work towards the following certificates through the programme.
Bronze
The Bronze Award is the first set of awards that our Rookie Lifeguards take, The award contains casualty recognition, performing lifesaving strokes as well as learning self-rescues.
Silver
The Silver Award is the second set of award that our Rookie Lifeguards take, The awards contain a variety of different rescues, such as Shout & Signal, Reach, Throw, and Wade!
They will also start to develop emergency action plans to support and save their casualties.
Gold
The Gold Awards are the highest set of awards that our Rookie Lifeguards take. The awards test the Rookie Lifeguards knowledge by placing them into scenarios in which they must use their initiatives and skills toolbox to rescue their casualties safely and efficiently.

What happens if I don't want to continue lessons with Swimwell?
You can cancel your lessons at anytime by sending an email to office@swimwell.org.uk. A refund for remaining lessons that month will be given unless you decide to give us a specific date to end.
If you cancel during July and don’t make payment for August, this will be due for payment should you wish to return at any point in the following 12 months.
This is due to how we pro-rata your payments over 12 equal monthly payments for the 39 weeks of lessons.
